A local resident said that an airstrikes was carried out by Military Council using combatant helicopters and fighter jets in this morning around Milepost No. 40, Myanmar - Bangaladesh Border, Maung Taw Township, Rakhine State.

It is reported that the Arakhan Army (AA) attacked and seized a military council camp at the mile post No. 40 on August 31 and has been conducting airstrikes since September 1. In addition, since August 26, AA has been fighting in the battle of Khamoung Seik strategy and the Military Council has been attacking with airstrikes support.

Local people said that "In this morning, Military Council lunched airstrikes three times in each of two jets between between Taung Pyo and Khamoung Seik Strategy camps. These are located around 40 miles."

"What I see that they will not let go of Khamoung Seik strategy completely and Taung Pyo strategy camps will not be attacked by AA. They will make every impossible for them not to be attacked with a large force," said one of Rakhine local residents in this afternoon.

The military council army said that it is already difficult to provide reinforcements from the ground in the area. Locals said that most of the small military council border guard camps in the area have been withdrawn.

"Most of the border stations in the northern Maungdaw, some of them were taken over by AA, and now these are more than 10. Also, there are more than 30 stations which have been withdrawn because they are too weak," said the Rakhine resident.

From the mid of August, there were many clashes between the AA and the Military Council Army in Rati Mountain, Maungdaw and Plat Wa. The fighting in the northern Rakhine regions was intense and the military council army suffered many casualties.

Because of these fights, the local people have also fled from the war and they are in need of emergency aid.
